Year 1 of Wonder Ink

Faith Begins with Wonder (4 Weeks) + Get Your Game On Family Event
The journey of faith is about so much more than managing behavior; it is an invitation from God to walk with Him in wonder. God invites every person into His big story, for it is only there that His sons and daughters discover who they are. From a young age, the question “Who am I?” is wired into each of us, and God alone can provide the answer.

In this series, kids will discover that God knows them, Jesus loves them, and the Holy Spirit leads them. They will discover that they cannot find the answer to the age-old question by looking within but by looking into the eyes of the God who sees them. Who am I? I am known, I am loved, I am led. Because of Jesus, I am a child of God.

Kids will discover God’s plan, power, and care for His people as He leads the way for the greatest rescue of all time—salvation through Jesus.

Core Value: God Knows Me (Year 1)

God’s Family (4 Weeks)
In the fateful moment when Adam and Even took the fruit and ate it, God already had a plan. His heart was set on relationship, and His plan was to restore all that was lost in that moment. How would this be possible? He would use a family—His family—to make it happen.

During this series, we’ll explore four stories of God’s faithfulness to the earliest members of His family. We’ll journey alongside Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, and Jacob as they learn that God has a plan, keeps His promises no matter what, and is always faithful. It is from this very family that one day God would send the One who would make all things right again, the One through whom we are all invited into the family—Jesus.

God Rescues (4 Weeks)
We all love a good rescue story where a hero arrives just in time to save the day! Because of our sin, we all need to be rescued—and God had the perfect plan for a rescue mission to save His people! God’s plan started long ago when He promised a Redeemer and Rescuer.

The God Rescues series dives into four Old Testament stories of God working out His rescue plan among His people. In each lesson, kids will discover God’s plan, power, and care for His people as He leads the way for the greatest rescue of all time—salvation through Jesus.

God Speaks (4 Weeks)
Relationships can’t happen without communication, and our God is relational. He knows us and wants to be known by us. He is the God who speaks. Throughout His story, we see our Father talking to His kids. Whether in an audible voice or a gentle whisper, or through the godly advice of others, God speaks. And His words are always worth listening to.

As you explore in this series the Old Testament stories of people who listened (and didn’t listen) to God’s voice, may you and the kids you lead tune your ears to the kind voice of our loving Father.

Christmas: Waiting for Jesus (5 Weeks) + Waiting for Jesus Family Experience
Our kids will have many opportunities to explore the nativity story, ask questions about Jesus’ birthday, and celebrate Immanuel—God with us—our baby King throughout their faith journey. But one could argue, even more compelling than the day itself was the long-expected nature of Messiah’s birth. God had promised a King. The prophets had foretold His story.

The weeks leading up to Christmas Day can be a time to enjoy the vibrancy of anticipation, to know that something worth waiting for is coming, and yet to wait it out. Isaiah teaches us to measure waiting differently: that waiting with anticipation requires both trust and truth. In this series, kids will celebrate Advent in a new way as they discover the prophecies about Jesus from Isaiah in the Old testament and the fulfillment of those prophecies in the birth of Jesus, as well as the promise of His return.

Core Value: Jesus Loves Me (Year 1)

Hanging Out with Jesus (6 Weeks)
God sent His one and only Son, Jesus, into the world because of His deep love. Jesus extended that love to the people He hung out with as He traveled and taught.

In this series, kids will be introduced to the love Jesus has for all people, including them. He wants to be with us every day. He sees each of us for who we are and knows our needs before we even tell Him. Jesus offers love and care like no one else can, and His love is so great that He eventually died on the cross to save us from sin.

Now That’s a Miracle! (5 Weeks)
Everywhere Jesus walked, people were changed. Over and over the gospels reveal a flesh wearing God who wasn’t preoccupied by where He was going but was fully present to the people He encountered along the way.

In this series, kids will encounter a Jesus who is fully love yet unfathomably powerful. They will encounter a Jesus whose words command nature to obey and whose compassion for the hungry crowds compels Him to do the impossible—a Jesus who heals a blind man and a sick woman, commands a girl who has died to get up, and strolls across storm-tossed waters. Kids will encounter a miracle-working Jesus who sees them, loves them, and will stop at nothing to be with them.

Core Value: The Holy Spirit Leads Me (Year 1)

Easter: Created New (5 Weeks) + Created New Family Experience
A rugged cross: the old is gone. An empty grave: the new has come. Because of Jesus, we are made new!

During this series, you will lead kids through the story of redemption—a story that began at creation and the fall, climaxed at the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, and continues through all who walk in new identities as God’s children! Easter isn’t merely an ancient story disconnected from our modern reality. The story of Easter reaches into our lives and changes the very core of who we are!

Kids will be introduced to the love Jesus has for all people, including them.

Power of the Spirit (6 Weeks)
God promises His Holy Spirit to every person who trusts in Jesus. The Spirit isn’t reserved only for so-called super Christians who have been walking with God for decades. The Holy Spirit is for everyone who believes! There is no such thing as a junior-sized version of the Holy Spirit for juniorsized followers of Jesus. The very same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead fills—and is available to lead—the kids in your ministry!

As you explore stories of the Holy Spirit’s arrival and work within the early church, marvel with your kids at the truth that the Spirit dwells in them, helps them, and gives them strength and boldness.

Core Value: I Am a Child of God (Year 1)

Be Like Jesus (4 Weeks) + The Big Faith Family Experience
What does it look like to be like Jesus? God invites us to look more like Jesus each month, year, and decade of our lives. Yet, all our determination and best effort will not get us there. It is only with the help of God’s Spirit that we become like Jesus.

During this series, you’ll join kids in exploring teachings from the New Testament that will lift the burden of self-powered character development and reveal the freedom that comes when we partner with the Holy Spirit on the journey of becoming like Jesus.

Wonderfully Made (5 Weeks)
Personal connection comes through honesty. The psalmists understood this better than anyone. From the pages of the Psalms leap lament and joy, anger and mercy—honest cries to the God who hears us and knows us.

During this series, you and the kids you lead will discover more from the Psalms about the unchanging character of God—the loving, caring, faithful shepherd—and your identity as His kids, wonderfully and purposefully created. Together you’ll come to God like the psalmists of old with singing, shouting, and crying out your prayers and praises to the One who is worthy!

Year 2 of Wonder Ink

Known, Loved, Led (1 Week)
God has always known, loved, and led His people. Though we haven’t always followed faithfully, God has a plan to call us to Himself.

Core Value: God Knows Me (Year 2)

Think Again (5 Weeks) + The Big Mess Family Event
We wander from God to do things our way. And still, God is faithful. He invites us to repent—to think again—about our sinful choices, to think again about who He is. Sound familiar? It’s a pattern God’s people know well.

This series explores five Old Testament stories of people who wander from God—Cain kills his brother; people build a tower to reach God on their terms; and the Israelites worship a golden calf, complain in the desert, and experience God’s mercy through the judges. Every time, God invites His people to think again. And every time, He is faithful.

Problems and Promises (5 Weeks)
God promised His people a land of their own. But the process of settling in Canaan would not be easy because the land was still inhabited by other people.

In this series, kids will explore how God prepared the way for Israel to take over by making a safe passage for spies to enter, causing walls to crumble so the Israelites could conquer a city, and making the sun stand still to give His people an advantage during battle. God fulfilled His promise of providing a home for Israel because He can make a way through anything. He will always keep His word.

Kids will discover what it means for God to be the only true God and how He invites them to follow and respond to Him.

Kings and Prophets (6 Weeks)
God kept His promise and brought His people into their own land. To show how much He loved His people, God raised up leaders called judges. He also raised up prophets who gave the people messages from God and helped to remind them that He was in charge. But God’s people looked around and saw other nations and wanted to be like them. So God allowed His people to have kings to rule over them, and in return God asked those kings to follow Him.

In this series, kids will discover what it means for God to be the only true God and how He invites them to follow and respond to Him. Through the stories of kings and prophets, they will see how God is in charge and that He is the one who is always with us.

Christmas: The Jesus Family Tree (5 Weeks) + The Christmas Tree Jubilee Family Event
Every person has a unique origin story. Jesus is no exception!

This Christmas series explores Jesus’ family line beginning with God’s promise to Abraham and continuing through the faith of a foreigner named Ruth. Later, a young man named David, son of Jesse, great-grandson of Ruth, is anointed king of Israel. Prophets foretell the Savior’s coming through Jesse’s offspring. Once Jesus is born, God’s plan for Jesus’ family line is confirmed by a devout man at the temple and a prophetess. Through it all, God has a unique plan that He carries out for the salvation of all people.

Core Value: Jesus Loves Me (Year 2)

Heart of Jesus (4 Weeks)
Through Jesus, the kingdom of heaven touched them. He healed broken bodies and restored broken hearts. Now Jesus has a message for the people, so He climbs a hillside and begins to teach. The kingdom of heaven is available now. It’s an upside-down world where the least likely candidates are blessed, worry is no more, and enemies are loved. It’s a world in which we get to be salt and light.

This series explores the Sermon on the Mount and leads you and the kids in your ministry to a deeper understanding of the heart of Jesus—a heart that is for the poor in spirit, the sad, the meek. A heart that is for you.

What Did He Say? (4 Weeks)
There is no doubt that Jesus is a master teacher.

In this series, kids will explore Jesus’ imaginative stories called parables. Each of His stories and parables instruct us about the kingdom of God, revealing truth about who He is and what He has for His followers. The more we read God’s Word, the more we will know Him. But what will we do with His words? Will we simply read them and forget them? Or will we allow them to take root in our lives and change us? Will we become wiser? Further, Jesus’ parables tell the depth of His love for each of us. His love helps us know how to show compassion to others in need.

Easter: Risen (5 Weeks) + Rise Up! Family Event
Sin brings death, but God brings life. Amazingly, we don’t have to wait until Jesus’ resurrection to see where God has power over death. From bringing dry bones to life and saving a prophet swallowed by a fish in the Old Testament to the raising of a man dead and buried in the New Testament, we see God as a God of resurrection.

This Easter series culminates with the greatest resurrection of all—Jesus! His death and resurrection mean that sin will never have the final say. We can be risen and experience new life too because of Him!

Core Value: The Holy Spirit Leads Me (Year 2)

Transformed (4 Weeks)
We are not as we were meant to be. Because of sin, brokenness is the way the world operates. But the good news is, because of Jesus, our lives can be transformed in every way. Each of the people in this series was transformed and was able to discover more of God’s good plans.

They’ll see prayer’s power through Peter’s story and learn to talk with God in confession and with bold faith. They’ll begin to experience the power of prayer firsthand. And just as honest conversation between two friends brings them closer, kids will draw nearer to the God who hears them and never holds back His love.

Kids discover that we get to be a wonder-filled reflection of God to the world.

Core Value: I Am a Child of God (Year 2)

Walking in Love (5 Weeks)
God’s love is amazing. Nothing can keep us from His love or move us away from His compassion.

This five-part series looks at God’s boundless and generous love. We’ll see that when we go through difficult things, we can always fall back on His kindness. Because of His great love, we can persevere from a place of acceptance and care. When we encounter those we find hard to love, God shows us how because He is love.

Wise Up! (4 Weeks) + Treasure Quest Family Event
The world is noisy. More voices compete for kids’ attention than ever before. So how can we help them learn to decipher the wisdom of heaven from the counterfeit wisdom of earth? By opening the pages of Scripture, God’s wisdom is at our fingertips! The book of Proverbs opens a window to His divine wisdom.

During this series, the kids you lead will gaze through that window with you, and the wisdom of God will cut through the noise. Through the ancient words, God will show kids how to walk in His ways now.

Year 3 of Wonder Ink

My Life Can Tell of God’s Wonder (1 Week)
When we choose to follow Jesus and trust Him as our Savior, we are adopted into His family. As children of God, we get to be His messengers and share His wonder with the world. Joining the family of God is the most wonderful thing we can do. We get to be filled by the Holy Spirit and freed from sin, and we can live the way God created us to be, in relationship with Him.

This lesson will help kids discover that we get to be a wonder-filled reflection of God to the world. When we join the family of God, we get to be a part of His story as our lives tell of God’s wonder.

Core Value: God Knows Me (Year 3)

Faithful (4 Weeks)
God’s faithfulness remains even as people display unfaithfulness to Him. It isn’t long before sin takes over the world. God is saddened by this change in the way people relate to Him and each other. Through the life of Noah, God shows He honors those who do what is right, and He is faithful to bring Isaac and Rebekah together so His chosen people can grow. When His people are oppressed, God sends help and lets them know they are His, and when God gives the Law, He shows that His people are set apart.

In this series, we’ll celebrate that God is the faithful God who will always be faithful to His people!

Unexpected (4 Weeks)
Water from a rock? A talking donkey? An impossible longing fulfilled? Food from almost nothing?

In this series, kids will discover that, as God works on behalf of His people, He often works in unexpected ways to bring about His plans in His timing. He hears our prayers, His gifts are good, and His plans cannot be stopped. What will God do next? No one can possibly imagine. But it is possible for us to believe God can use anything to care for His people—even rocks and a donkey!

Victory! (4 Weeks) + The Epic Battle Family Event
What’s the most exciting victory story you’ve ever heard? Well, buckle your seatbelt for this series because nothing is quite as suspenseful as when God helps His people win. The stories of God’s victories are full of surprises! He is with people who face battles, and He’ll use anything—sticky mud, water from a river, a handful of smooth stones, chariots of fire—to triumph. When God is on your side, there’s no reason to worry. We can be strong because He is our strength. God is powerful, and He is always victorious.

In this series, we’ll dive into the victorious stories of Deborah and Barak, David, Elisha and Naaman, and Elisha and an army of angels. Who will you share these exciting stories of God’s victory with?

God with Us (4 Weeks)
Taken from their homes and relocated to foreign places, God’s people find themselves in strange and unusual situations as exiles with different customs, languages, and ways of worship. Even in peculiar lands, God’s people are never alone. He is always working behind the scenes. Sometimes He even shows up on the scene to speak to His messengers and give aid in perilous times.

This series will explore how God works, calls, protects, and stays with His people. God’s promise to never leave His people rings true even for us today.

Core Value: Jesus Loves Me (Year 3)

Christmas: Waiting for the King (5 Weeks) + Behold the King Family Event
Waiting can be hard, especially when you are waiting for something good. For hundreds of years, God’s people waited for Jesus to come. He is the One who God promised, the One coming to make all things right. He is the good and perfect King who will rule forever. There is no one like Him, and His arrival signaled hope and salvation for all who felt the weight of sin and brokenness upon this world. As the everlasting King and Prince of Peace, He is worthy of all worship.

In this series, God invites us to meet and worship our true King.

Who Is Jesus? (4 Weeks)
Who is Jesus? He is the exact likeness of God—the physical representation of God on earth. As a child and later as an adult, Jesus shows us what God is like.

This series will help us understand Jesus and who He is. He is the Messiah, and God the Father speaks words of affirmation at His baptism. When Jesus is led into the wilderness and His humanity is put on display, He is tempted and does not sin. Through His first miracle, we see Jesus reveal to His followers that He is amazing. The more we know Him, the more we know God, and the more we are drawn to Him.

Help kids discover that their lives can tell of God’s wonder.

I AMs of Jesus (4 Weeks)
In the Gospel of John and the book of Revelation, Jesus makes statements about Himself that reveal who He is and what He came to do. These I AM statements reveal the nature of Jesus and His heart for people, helping us know Him more: “I am the bread of life” (John 6:35), “I am the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6), “I am the vine” (John 15:5), and “I am the Alpha and Omega” (Revelation 21:6).

In this series, we will discover that the I AMs are more than just statements; they help us know how we can respond to Jesus and know Him more deeply as our life-giver, our way to God, our source of abiding, our beginning and end.

Walking with Jesus (4 Weeks)
When we study the life of Jesus, we see the way He interacted with others, cared for them, and spent His time with them.

In this series, we will discover His power and compassion as He brings healing, witness His generous forgiveness, see that He wants us to remember His death, and realize that we can sit at His feet and simply spend time with Him. In a world that’s filled with distractions and disruptions, we can come to Jesus and simply walk with Him in relationship and be forever changed. Together, let’s discover that walking with Jesus isn’t following a specific set of rules or to-do lists; it is surrendering ourselves as we sit at His feet and worship our King.

Core Value: The Holy Spirit Leads Me (Year 3)

Easter: Connected Easter (5 Weeks) + Around the Table: A Taste of Passover Family Event
Throughout the arc of God’s big story, we see God at work executing a rescue plan to bring His people from slavery to freedom, death to life. During the Easter season, we remember that God’s own Son, Jesus Christ, came once for all, offering the way into God’s presence by way of His life and His blood.

In this five-lesson series, we’ll walk through what it looks like for God to show up, promise His presence, and make the way where there was none. We will connect the long journey of God’s people from slavery to freedom, from Moses and the Israelites in Egypt to the death and resurrection of Jesus. Jesus is alive, and because of Him, we can transition from slavery to freedom, from death to life—now those are connections worth celebrating!

Holy Spirit Our Helper (4 Weeks)
We often use the word helper to describe someone who is well-meaning but not that powerful, like the sidekick to a superhero. But when Jesus told His disciples in John 16:7 that He was sending a helper, He was promising someone so much more than a sidekick! The Holy Spirit is the very fullness of God—fully powerful, fully wise, fully loving. The Holy Spirit is God, and just as Jesus promised, the Holy Spirit is with us!

In this series, we’ll see the Holy Spirit work through Paul, move in prison-breaking power, help us pray, and unite the church. The Holy Spirit isn’t merely a sidekick; He is God, our helper!

Core Value: I Am a Child of God (Year 3)

Rooted (5 Weeks) + Wonder Lab Family Event
This series will allow us to dig deeper into what it means to follow Christ and be rooted in Him, shaped by Him, and filled with His Spirit. Growing strong and holding firm in our faith can only happen when our lives and hearts are rooted in Jesus, and when we do this, we’ll discover what is most important to God: that we love Him and love others. We’ll understand that being rooted in Him causes His love to transform us, that He calls us to be humble like Jesus, and that love and wisdom come from God. When we allow ourselves to be rooted in His love, we will grow, flourish, and live abundant, fruit-filled lives.

Worship with Wonder (5 Weeks)
What does it mean to really worship God? While worshiping through music and song may be the first thing that comes to mind when we consider worship, we’ll start this series by learning through the Shema, which means “hear,” that we can listen to God and worship Him with our whole selves. We’ll discover that we can worship unashamed with our whole hearts, explore how God is worthy of worship, and hold close the truth that God is with us when we worship. We’ll close the series by accepting God’s invitation to worship and celebrate Him as we learn about the Feast of Tabernacles. Throughout these five lessons, may we experience worship as an overflow of love and a response to who God is and what He has done.

Be WonderFILLED (4 Weeks)
What does it mean to be WonderFILLED? It means you know who God is and who He has made you to be. It means you look for Him and see Him throughout His creation— including within your life! This series will help kids discover their true identity in God’s big story and know without a doubt that they belong to the wonder-giver himself! The Be WonderFILLED series introduces and explores the four core values of Wonder Ink: God Knows Me, Jesus Loves Me, the Holy Spirit Leads Me, and I Am a Child of God. Each lesson in the series dives deeper into one of the core values to help kids discover that their lives can tell of God’s wonder.
