What does it mean to really worship God? While worshiping through music and song may be the first thing that comes to mind when we consider worship, we’ll start this series by learning through the Shema, which means “hear,” that we can listen to God and worship Him with our whole selves.

We’ll discover that we can worship unashamed with our whole hearts, explore how God is worthy of worship, and hold close the truth that God is with us when we worship. We’ll close the series by accepting God’s invitation to worship and celebrate Him as we learn about the Feast of Tabernacles.

Throughout these five lessons, may we experience worship as an overflow of love and a response to who God is and what He has done.

Series Invitation for Leaders

I was raised going to a church that was reserved and stoic in its approach to their worship services. I would hear the call to worship the Lord right before we would sing a song during the church service.

For many years, I associated the idea of worshiping the Lord with those stuffy moments on Sundays. I later had experiences that led me to what Psalm 100:2 describes as worshiping with gladness and singing joyfully. This new expression of worship came as a response to experiencing the love of God in a tangible way.

When you hear the word worship, what comes to mind?

Much like the season that brought me new insights and expressions in worship, the Worship with Wonder series will guide us through key shifts that can deepen our understanding of worship and transform how we engage with God as worshipers.

We’ll explore the Shema’s call to worship with our whole selves, David’s example of wholehearted worship, Psalm 145’s affirmation of God’s worthiness, Jehoshaphat’s singing army showing God’s presence in worship, and the Feast of Tabernacles as an invitation to worship and celebrate.

You and the kids you lead are invited not just into a series but into a season of growth as worshipers overflowing with love for who God is and all He has done.
