When we choose to follow Jesus and trust Him as our Savior, we are adopted into His family.
As children of God, we get to be His messengers and share His wonder with the world. Joining the family of God is the most wonderful thing we can do. We get to be filled by the Holy Spirit and freed from sin, and we can live the way God created us to be, in relationship with Him.
This lesson will help kids discover that we get to be a wonder-filled reflection of God to the world. When we join the family of God, we get to be a part of His story as our lives tell of God’s wonder.
We are made in the image of God, a holy reflection of Him.

Who are you? What makes you … you? What is your identity?
So often our identity gets wrapped up in what we do. I was at a holiday party not too long ago, and I found myself anticipating the inevitable, “So … what do you do?” And while the things we do can help define who we are, that’s not all there is. Right?
The Bible says we are made in the image of God, a holy reflection of Him. An homage to the good and creative and powerful! It’s our privilege to help kids discover who they are through the eyes of their loving Father. But that requires courage and stamina.
Because this world— though created good—does its best to distill our identities down to what we can produce.
Imagine the kind of generation we could unleash when we help kids truly grasp the truth that God knows them, Jesus loves them, the Holy Spirit can lead them, and they are children of the most high God!
Imagine the confident leaders, teachers, caregivers, spouses, employees, pastors, and parents they’ll become when they move through life knowing they are God’s beloved children. We are loved and cherished simply because we exist. And our lives can tell of the wonderful Father who first loved us.
May you feel the truth of your identity as a cherished child of God today.
