The beauty of the Holy Spirit is that He is here to help us, lead us, and even intercede for us. He is our friend, our comforter, and He guides us as followers of Jesus.

You Are Created for Dependence

I will ask the Father. And he will give you another friend to help you and to be with you forever.

John 14:16 NIRV

Jesus’ words in John 14:16 express to us that we are never alone. We have a helper who is with us forever. God designed us for dependence on Him and as believers, we should live in this dependence.

The world we live in expresses triumph in independence, but Christ followers should do just the opposite. We are dependent on the Lord so we seek in prayer, we study His Word, and we live a life following His lead. And we are interdependent as the Bride of Christ.

Sometimes it’s good to just be in His presence. In the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Scripture tells us that the path is narrow, but we are thankful for the power of the Holy Spirit, our friend, who convicts us and leads us on this very path.

Prayer in Weakness

In the same way, the Holy Spirit helps us when we are weak. We don’t know what we should pray for. But the Spirit himself prays for us. He prays through groans too deep for words.”

Romans 8:26 NIRV

The Holy Spirit intercedes for us when we don’t have the words to pray for ourselves. When we think about this we can’t help but be grateful and awestruck that we have intercessory prayer with the Holy Spirit and Jesus. Our God is so good to us.

Have you ever been in that place? Where words wouldn’t suffice and your heart was heavy. The Holy Spirit was with you.

In these places, try repeating Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.” Then continue repeating it, taking off a word or small phrase each time until only the word “Be” is left.

  • Be still and know that I am God.
  • Be still and know that I am.
  • Be still and know.
  • Be still.
  • Be.

Sometimes it’s good to just be in His presence. In the presence of the Holy Spirit, our helper and comforter.

He Leads Us to Abba Father

Because you are his children, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts. He is the Holy Spirit. By his power we call God Abba. Abba means Father.

Galatians 4:6 NIRV

When we decide to follow Jesus and give our lives to Him, the Holy Spirit is given to us. The Spirit is our friend who leads us toward God. His place can feel mysterious and distant, but He is near.

We know that through Him who is always with us, we can run the race and endure. We know that He guides us toward our loving Father, no matter what we may encounter on the narrow path of life.

So, today, be encouraged. You are not alone.
